GM recalls over 1M vehicles for steering malfunction

Sept. 14, 2018
Certain 2015 vehicles may lose electric power steering assist. When it returns, drivers may have difficulty steering the vehicle.

General Motors will recall over 1 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles for a potential steering malfunction.

Certain vehicles may lose electric power steering (EPS) assist. When the EPS returns, drivers may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds. This may increase the risk of a crash.

The recall includes the following 2015 vehicles:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500
  • Chevrolet Suburban
  • Chevrolet Tahoe
  • GMC Sierra 1500
  • GMC Yukon
  • Cadillac Escalade

To resolve the issue, GM dealers will update the power steering module software, free of charge for owners of the affected vehicles.
