Omnitracs launches scalable fleet management software platform
Omnitracs, LLC, a SaaS provider for fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, announced the recent introduction of Omnitracs One, a scalable software solution designed to address the needs of any sized fleet - be it first-mile/loading, long haul or last-mile/delivery.
By combining the best features and functionalities of Omnitracs' current solutions, customers will now have access to improved levels of solution flexibility allowing for quick adaptation to future business operations.
"“There’s a convergence going on with the first-mile, middle-mile and last-mile," Kevin Haugh, Chief Strategy and Product Officer, Omnitracs said. "This (transformation) is taking place on the technology side to provide solutions that were not available in the past."
Omnitracs One provides a single-source user experience, enabling unified fleet ops management and reporting, while eliminating single-purpose and disconnected solutions for both long haul and last mile fleets. The software offers fleets a "comprehensive and modular offering," according to Haugh.
"In the past, we had a separate set of applications and devices to manage different aspects of the business," Haugh said. THis new software solutions will provide fleets a streamlined approach to select the most suitable applications for their needs.
With hardware flexibility, fleet owners can choose the right devices based on their needs at any service level. With instant access to a network of technology partners and system integrations, customers can also expect continued support from Omnitracs for exceptional service. The new solution will enable the company to respond to customers’ needs more quickly, while rapidly developing new and innovative capabilities on a platform that will sustain fleets well into the future.
Omnitracs will begin offering Omnitracs One to fleets beginning in 2018. Availability and timing will be based on the needs of individual fleets and how they are using their solutions.
Recent product innovations
Haugh announced a number of new features and functionalites available from Omnitracs, including:
ELD - continued updates and support for the implementation of electronic logging devices (ELDs) into customer fleets.
Integrated Critical Event Video Solution - An in-cab video solution would provide additional insights to the monitoring of critical events as they happen. "We were already monitoring critical events and we’re already collecting that information," Haugh said. "Those are the types of (events) where you might want to look at the video."
Accident Prediction and Intervention - Haugh says Omnitracs is able to provide additional insights to driver behavior, by reviewing data and predicting drivers most likely to cause an accident.
Data Discovery - The company continues to review improved and varied ways to present data and reporting for customers, to aid in improving safety and operatonal efficiencies.
Routing, Dispatching & Compliance (RDC) - From a business efficiency standpoint, this functionality will provide a means to optimize multi-stop delivery and track how well the driver is doing..
Freight/Product Visibility - Specifically designed for long-haul applications, this feature can provide virtual load view.
Next-Gen Integrated Commercial Navigation - Omnitracs continues to develop and improve driver-facing applications. Improved navigation aids in better driver satisfaction, including real-time route updates, notes on vehicle clearances and obstacles, and the ability for customers to edit maps.
Driver turnover prediction and intervention - Additional data can provide insights to predicting and assist with information to potentially retain drivers.
Over-the-air drivetrain updates - "Having this connection to the vehicle for many many years, we’re able to do software updates for our own devices," Haugh said. Omnitracs is working with Cummins to push over-the-air updates to vehicle components, without the need to bring the vehicle in for service.
