SkyBitz, PSI collaborate to deliver integrated tire pressure and location information

Feb. 20, 2015
Now with the ability to monitor tire pressure events and trailer location in real time, customers can benefit from various maintenance improvements.

SkyBitz, a provider of remote asset tracking and information management solutions, and PSI, a provider of automatic tire inflation systems, announced a strategic collaboration resulting in an integrated trailer solution. Joint customers will be provided with integrated tire inflation data alongside asset information for managing their fleets. Tires are the top maintenance cost for fleets and tire under-inflation is the biggest issue affecting tires. Now with the ability to monitor tire pressure events and trailer location in real time, customers can benefit from various maintenance improvements such as minimizing tire related roadside service calls, improving fuel economy, and reducing early tire removal due to irregular wear.

Through this new partnership, enhanced tire status and asset information from PSI and SkyBitz will be delivered through SkyBitz InSight, a Web application that provides a complete, real-time view of assets and cargo status and location information. Both the driver and the dispatcher will get real-time notifications if there is a tire system fault. Having this information allows for better maintenance of tire wear and ensures that the tire is taken care of the next time the trailer is taken into the shop for maintenance. Dispatchers can benefit from this information by helping them find and direct drivers to their company’s preferred maintenance shop in closest proximity to the affected trailer, resulting in cost savings.
