Omnitracs announces integrated telematics for Volvo, Mack Trucks
Volvo Group’s pair of North American truck making units, Mack and Volvo, announced that the Omnitracs integrated Telematics solution is now an available option on all of their new trucks, and it can be retrofitted on older vehicles equipped with telematics hardware.
The solution can be linked directly with Volvo’s Remote Diagnostics or Mack’s GuardDog Connect remote diagnostics systems.
“Unlike traditional solutions, Omnitracs for Volvo Trucks’ software integrates with our original hardware, allowing Volvo customers to benefit from a best-in-class solution, without having to add to or modify our existing equipment,” said Conal Deedy, director of connected vehicle services at Volvo Trucks.
Said David Pardue, Mack vice president of connected vehicle & uptime services: "Fleets are granted real-time insights to better monitor assets and driver behavior while promoting safety.”
According to Omnitracs, key features of the company’s integrated telematics solution include:
- In-depth data capture and analysis of individual driver performance and historical and current GPS information.
- Vehicle usage monitoring, including information regarding activity during or after defined work hours, fuel costs, and route accountability.
- A “hardware-free” solution that is offered as part of the original equipment, allowing for optional integration with routing and dispatching.
- Detailed summary and exception reporting with real-time alerts via email or text message.
“With OIT, our partners can leverage their existing OEM hardware and receive all the productivity and visibility benefits that come with data analytics,” said Rich Glasmann, vice president of OEM strategy, sales, and marketing at Omnitracs. “Additionally, OIT streamlines the process for managers trying to ensure road safety and drivers looking to improve their own efficiency.”
