Tool Review: ESOC Series 875 Environmentally Friendly Oil Changer
The ESOC Series 875 Environmentally Safe Oil Change machine is designed to reduce labor time and costs. With its quick oil change technology, an oil change with the Series 875 can be completed in less than 10 minutes, saving approximately 20 minutes on every oil change performed. This equipment offers closed loop technology that uses air to purge used oil from the vehicle’s filter and passages while the engine is being evacuated, and replace it with clean oil; using minimal time and labor. It includes quick-connect spill free drain fittings and an automatic process that eliminates the operator’s contact with oil.
The review
Being able to conduct its work effectively and efficiently is the hallmark of any successful maintenance department. According to Mike Moore, Business Development Manager at Indianapolis-Ind.-based dealership Stoops Freightliner, using the ESOC Series 875 has yielded significant time savings and convenience for his technicians when they do oil changes on commercial vehicles.
“We’re using the Series 875 on our mobile maintenance trucks right now,” Moore explains. “Using it for on-site mobile oil changes will save our technicians anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes at a time.”
The Series 875 is designed for a technician to pull two hoses out of the machine – one for the vehicle’s oil pan and another for its oil filter. Once the technician starts up the machine, this closed loop technology removes used oil from the vehicle’s filter and passages at the same time the engine is being evacuated.
“When you unscrew the oil filter, it’s dry of oil,” he says. “There’s no leakage, and you’re not taking an oil pan plug out.”
Then the user turns a switch, sets the meter, and the machine replaces the old oil with clean oil.
“All the cavities and the oil filter are filled prior to starting the engine following an oil change,” says Moore. “The whole process, from start to finish, takes about 12 minutes.”
The Series 875 lends itself well to Stoops Freightliner’s mobile maintenance work.
“Our trucks can pull up to a unit, pull the hoses out, hook them up, start the machine and go do other things while it’s changing oil,” says Moore. “It’s a big time-saver, and they don’t have to worry about spilling oil.”
Mike Moore says they are quite pleased with what the machine offers in terms of performance and convenience.
“Normally on an oil change, they would have to jack the vehicle up to get the drain pan in,” he continues. “Then they would have to drag the drain pan out. Instead, this equipment provides tremendous time savings while being environmentally safe.”
