Fontaine Modification names Jamil Young as president

Feb. 20, 2024
Jamil Young, who previously served as the company’s Heavy Truck Operations unit president, succeeds Paul Kokalis.

Jamil Young has been named Fontaine Modification’s newest president after serving the company for almost 15 years. Based out of Fontaine’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Young succeeds Paul Kokalis, who has been Fontaine Modification’s president for the last decade and is moving to a strategic role at Fontaine’s parent company, Transportation Products Group of Marmon Holdings.

“We are confident Jamil is the right person to lead Fontaine Modification to great heights in the future,” Kokalis said. “His technical knowledge, business acumen, and extensive experience will serve our customers and employees well.”

Prior to joining Fontaine Modification, Young held several marketing and engineering positions at GM, Panasonic Automotive Systems, and Illinois Tool Works. Then he joined Fontaine Modification in 2009 as sr. operations manager, before he was promoted to general manager of Fontaine’s Garland, Texas modification center in 2010. The following year, Young became vice president and general manager of Fontaine’s southern region operations, and then president of Fleet Services in 2014.

Finally, when Fontaine Modification combined its Vocational and Fleet Services operations in 2020, to become the company’s Heavy Truck Operations unit, Young served as president of the new business.

Young’s latest promotion comes alongside another restructuring, as Fontaine Modification has combined its Heavy Truck Operations and Work Truck & EV Solutions, which released the Optimal EV E1-R repower solution for converting gasoline and diesel trucks to zero-emissions electric powertrains in December 2022. Young will lead this new, focused company, assisted by Mike Randolph, the prior president of the Work Truck & EV segment, who will now serve as the VP of sales and marketing for the combined organization.
