PTEN launches Torque Factor, a vehicle service-centric podcast

Torque Factor aims to help service professionals increase their expertise and success rate in dealing with today’s increasingly sophisticated vehicles.

Fort Atkinson, Wis., Feb. 18, 2020 – Professional Tool and Equipment News (PTEN) and VehicleServicePros.com launched a podcast, titled Torque Factor. Torque Factor is hosted by PTEN contributing technical editor, Scott Brown. The show brings to the surface technical challenges and solutions in the automotive service industry through interviews with subject matter experts.

Torque Factor aims to help service professionals increase their expertise and success rate in dealing with today’s increasingly sophisticated vehicles. The podcast addresses the latest automotive service technologies while focusing on expanding knowledge and awareness around tools, equipment, education, and industry trends.

Torque Factor will be releasing a new episode each month. The first two episodes, “Episode 1: Peter Coll, Neutronics, on R-1234yf,” and “Episode 2: Paul Baltusis on OBD-II Mode $06,” are available now.

In the first episode, featured guest Peter Coll, vice president of Neutronics, discusses all things R-1234yf refrigerant. Highlights of the episode include discussions on recalls, a vehicle service case study, Donny Seyfer, manager at NASTF, providing an industry update, Steve Ford, the “Car Guy,” discussing automotive education issues, and more.

Torque Factor features a mailbag segment, in which industry questions, topics, and concerns raised by listeners are addressed. Submissions for the mailbag segment can be sent to [email protected].

Scott Brown is an ASE Master Certified L1 Technician and has over 37 years of professional service industry experience. He is an independent shop owner in Southern California and is engaged at various levels within the industry. He has a deep understanding of the challenges technicians experience at the service level and is continuously striving to move the industry forward through education and networking. Brown founded Diagnostic Network after 22 years of service at the International Automotive Technicians' Network (iATN), where he retired as company president in 2018.
