Daimler to restructure and separate Mercedes-Benz Cars from Daimler Trucks

July 26, 2018
Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans, Daimler Trucks and Buses and its financial services unit will now be three independent divisions.

As part of a restructuring endeavor Daimler announced it would split Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans, Daimler Trucks and Buses and its financial services unit into three independent divisions under the Daimler AG parent company

The financial services unit, previously Daimler Financial Services, would be rebranded as Daimler Mobility. This division services mobility solutions like car2go, moovel and mytaxi applications.

Manfred Bischoff, chairman of the supervisory board which approved the new structure, said in a statement this decision would put Daimler in a position to "tackle the rapid pace of change."

The move, which needs to be approved by shareholders in 2019, will come in 2020.
