Motus acquires Everlance for mileage tracking, reimbursement
Feb. 20, 2025
The acquisition will allow Motus to leverage Everlance’s app, making it easier for mobile technicians and parts and tool delivery drivers to track their miles, fuel reimbursement, and credentials.
Motus has acquired Everlance, a mileage and expense-tracking platform for small businesses. This will allow Motus, which partners with companies who rely on employees driving their own, personal vehicles for work as opposed to company-owned ones, to better serve making it easier for these workers to track their miles and be reimbursed.
“For those businesses with sales teams, merchandizers, home healthcare, or a host of other critical roles—it can be a struggle to gain the visibility and control they need to optimize reimbursement spend, mitigate risks, and bolster the productivity of all those employees on the road,” said Phong Nguyen, CEO, Motus. “By joining forces, Motus and Everlance will be able to offer our customers a more robust set of mileage reimbursement, driver safety and training, and related tax and compliance solutions for every kind of employee who drives.”
Everlance provides an app that allows drivers to automatically track the miles they drive and log their expenses, while managers can easily review and approve requests from drivers. More specifically, Everlance uses GPS to record the miles a mobile tech drives to a customer, with drivers themselves able to classify trips as for work or for personal use. Drivers can also take pictures of fuel receipts and upload them to the app for classification and expense report submission. Motus provides similar functionality that can calculate reimbursement rates for each employee and also provides GPS-verified mileage logs and automatically logs an employee’s mileage.
For Everlance, managers can also review a trip’s start and end time, see the customer a technician visited, and the route the technician took going to and from work. For both employee’s and manager’s records, the system can store driver’s license and insurance information as well.
This is especially key for mobile technicians, noted Ryon Packer, chief product officer at Motus, as shops with techs who own their own service vehicles may struggle to make sure their techs can handle both their admin and repair work. These tasks include ensuring that each mobile tech has active licenses and insurance, that they understand the company’s driving policies, report accurate mileage for reimbursement, and that the reimbursement rate is fair to both the employee and the company.
“Motus provides easy-to-use solutions that help companies mitigate risk and provide the transparency and controls needed to optimize reimbursement spend,” Packer explained. “Our mobile app helps employees capture their mileage accurately and submit them efficiently. Submissions can be reviewed and approved according to company policies.”
Additionally, Motus offers reporting, dashboards, and AI services to help eliminate time and money waste for a shop, he continued. As an example, Motus worked with a packaging and ink supplier company that wanted to streamline their delivery vehicle spend. This included efforts to make sure drivers were licensed, insured, and trained to avoid the risks (and company costs) from accidents.
“In less than a year of implementing Motus, the company is on track to achieve impressive seven-figure cost savings,” Packer affirmed.
Now with Motus’ acquisition of Everlance, this poises the former to leverage the latter’s mobile app with Motus’ analytics and business intelligence, increasing the accessibility of their services for fleets.
