Tech Tip: Spring clean your air tools

April 18, 2019
It’s good practice to apply an air tool conditioner, which will loosen deposits, restoring and prolonging air tool life.

Are your air tools running at peak performance? Do you even remember what peak performance is anymore? Be honest – when was the last time you cleaned your air tools?

Over time, deposits – think calcium and sludge – can build up, causing your air tools to lose power and performance. Regular lubrication is critical for air tool maintenance, but it’s not enough over the long term. It’s good practice to apply an air tool conditioner, which will loosen deposits, restoring and prolonging air tool life.

Here’s how to clean your air tools with an air tool conditioner:

  1. Flood the tool with the air tool conditioner through the air supply connection.
  2. With the tool flooded, let the tool sit for 15 minutes. This will allow the air tool conditioner to penetrate and dissolve deposits that have formed on the tool’s internal parts.
  3. Reconnect the tool to the air supply.
  4. Spray the air tool to expel fluids and deposits through the exhaust ports.
  5. Lubricate the air tool regularly.
