Tool Review: Coxreels EZ-Coil Reel

Aug. 1, 2009
Coxreels EZ-Coil reels with patented Controlled Retraction will now be painted in the company's signature Lustrous Blue Proprietary CPCTM Powder Coat Finish.

Coxreels EZ-Coil reels with patented Controlled Retraction, painted safety yellow through 2006, will now be painted in the company's signature Lustrous Blue Proprietary CPCTM Powder Coat Finish. The new models will feature updated logos and labels. Coxreels says the blue models will still retract up to 80-percent slower than standard spring-rewind reels.

The Review

Jim Gesell, owner of Gesell's Automotive in Oconomowoc, Wis., installed and tested Coxreels' EZ-Coil reel and was impressed with its features.

"The reel works real nice. The one thing I had noticed about it — compared to the old-fashioned reels — when you wind it back up again, it doesn't rip out of your hands and go whipping all over the shop," Jim said. The easy recoil feature of the reel was a definite plus for Jim.

He said the EZ-Coil reel was easy to mount and built to "solid quality."

"It's easy to use, it clicks in … you don't have to click and re-click to keep the length of your hose there pretty much right on.

"We like it, it saves us some space not having hoses on the floor."
