Firepower introduces FP Series manual plasma cutting machines

The FP Series machines feature an LCD interface designed to simplify setup and operation.

Firepower launched a series of manual plasma machines — the FP-25i, FP-35i, and FP-45i — featuring an advanced LCD interface that simplifies setup and operation. Operators make all adjustments with just one knob, viewing process information on the full-color 2.8” screen. All units weigh 30 lbs and come with a 60A torch and 15” cable.

“FP plasma cutters slice through steel, stainless, aluminum, or brass like a hot knife through butter,” said Kris Scherm, global manual plasma business and product director, ESAB, which operates the Firepower brand. “The plasma cutting process delivers a precise cut, makes it easy to follow templates, creates almost no distortion, and can cut through painted, dirty, or rusty material with ease.”

The easy-to-use, compact FP series plasma cutters are designed for garage, car care, body shop, maintenance, farm/range, metal art, and do-it-yourself applications. In addition to their rated cut thickness — defined a good quality cut surface made at a good cutting speed — they will also sever thicker material. The FP-45i can carve through 1” steel, but even the FP-25i cuts through any metal thickness in typical garage applications.

The FP-25i offers the convenience of connecting to standard 115V household current, produces a rated cut on 5/16” steel (3/8” sever) and has a 25 percent duty cycle rating at 25A. The FP-35i and 45i connect to 230V current to deliver more cutting capacity and 35 percent duty cycle at 35A and 45A outputs, respectively. The FP-35i offers a rated cut on 1/2" steel (5/8” sever), while the FP-45i delivers a rated cut on 5/8” steel and can sever 1”.

FP Series plasma cutters offer two trigger control modes, 2T or 4T. The 2T mode provides standard On/Off trigger control, while 4T locks the trigger to On for extended cuts to facilitate tracing circles with the optional circle cutting attachment. FP plasma cutters have two cutting modes, one for solid plate and one for expanded metal (such as grates and fences), as well as a purge mode to clear the air line.

All units require a gas flow of 87-116 psi at a minimum rate of 3.9 scfm. The automatic, internal regulator controls air flow to the torch, so there is no need to adjust pressure. An easily accessible and replaceable external air filter helps remove the excess moisture and contaminants commonly found in compressed air lines. An automatic system purges the gas after cutting, increasing the useful life of the consumables.
