Tech Tip: Know what’s in the vehicle's A/C system prior to recovery

Your first line of defense against the risks of unknown refrigerant is a refrigerant identifier.

Most technicians never question the refrigerant in a vehicle's A/C system or the new virgin tank they purchase. However, it's been estimated that one in 10 vehicles on the road has an A/C system that is running on contaminated refrigerant. Unchecked refrigerant from a vehicle could contaminate service equipment as well as future vehicles serviced with this contaminated equipment.

Using a refrigerant identifier, like the Robinair 16009, lets a technician know what they're working with and can guard against costly A/C RRR equipment repairs and problems caused by contaminated customer vehicles.
