Designed to help fleets match colors, maintain appearance

Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes has introduced two new systems to its Genesis premium product line: the Genesis G4 Basecoat System and the Genesis LV Single-Stage Coating System.

The Genesis G4 Basecoat System is formulated for outstanding performance and enhanced color match capability, including OEM colors for fleets, trucks, specialty vehicles and manufacturing equipment.

This premium-quality, two-component, 3.5 lbs. per gallon VOC-compliant urethane basecoat delivers excellent appearance with durability and superior flexibility over properly prepared substrates, says Joseph Krebs, Sherwin-Williams OE/Commercial Products Manager.

When combined with the new Sherwin-Williams GT1355 mixing clear, the Genesis G4 basecoat is easy to use and mix, as it features a simple 4:1:1 mix ratio.

The new system offers fast dry times, which results in more rapid paint production, he notes. This allows painters to complete more vehicles in the same amount of time, and lets fleet owners, managers and operators get their vehicles back on the road and in service faster.

The new Genesis G4 basecoat may be recoated after five minutes and up to seven days without sanding or scuffing with a 10-minute dry time for clearcoat application.

“New Genesis G4 is designed for manufacturers of original equipment, commercial and Class 8 vehicles that are looking for a long-lasting, premium finish,” says Krebs.

“G4 is also conducive to high and middle-end production refinish shops that are looking for an easy-to-apply and mix, highly durable system that provides a consistent match to OE colors.”

This basecoat provides a durable, high gloss finish that is resistant to chipping, corrosion, UV, chemicals and solvents, even in extreme conditions.

Genesis LV

Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes’ new Genesis LV Single-Stage System is intended specifically for premium fleet refinishing and OE manufacturing for a wide variety of vehicles, including utility, light rail, buses and public transportation and ground support.

It features excellent hiding properties, plus, this two-component urethane coating system uses two new mixing clears (GT1510 and GT1511) with simple mix ratios to reach multiple gloss levels (flat, satin, semi-gloss and gloss), says Krebs.

The easy-to-apply, low-VOC coating offers excellent sag resistance and is designed to meet a variety of drying conditions, he adds. It can be recoated up to 72 hours without scuff sanding.

The Genesis LV System uses the Sherwin-Williams Color Works The Match Box Color System to deliver a premium appearance. It can be taped in one hour and is ideal for use when applying multiple colors or striping.

Extremely durable once cured the high performance qualities of the Genesis LV System hold up to harsh road conditions, resisting stone chips, chemicals and solvents and protects against moisture and salt spray.

"The Genesis LV system offers both the specifier and the painter extreme versatility,” Krebs says. “It features a truly low VOC coating that provides multiple gloss levels depending upon the application and the look preferred.

“It works for both original equipment manufacturers as well as fleet refinish shops, and provides a durable and easy to mix and apply coating.”
