Platform Science has expanded its Virtual Vehicle platform to include tractor-trailer pairing verification through SkyMatch from SkyBitz.
“Working with SkyBitz to enable their app on Platform Science unlocks a critical way for fleets to leverage their data better, enhance the driver experience, and improve overall fleet efficiency,” said Joe Jumayao, VP of Business Development, Platform Science. “This integration demonstrates the robustness of the Virtual Vehicle platform to provide fleets and partners like SkyBitz with comprehensive options to connect all aspects of the commercial transportation ecosystem.”
SkyMatch can verify tactor-trailer pairings through a local Bluetooth network while running on Platform Science's in-cab tablets. It can automate trailer identification delivery to back-office and mobile applications, notifies both dispatchers and drivers if tractors are pulling the wrong trailers, and provides notifications for when trailer pickup loaded and empty trailers. Additionally, the system notifies users if a trailer is used without proper permission and validates trailer number when entered into driver electronic logging devices.

“We know where our assets are at all times, our drivers can find the trailers they need and we can confirm proper asset pairing, as well,” said John Pope, chairman of Cargo Transporters, who uses SkyMatch on its 1,900 trailers. “SkyMatch’s integration with Virtual Vehicle combines data from Platform Science and SkyBitz to present a single unified trailer management interface, saving operational and administrative time.”
According to Cargo Transporters, the fleet has improved its operations and asset awareness with SkyMatch, and has experienced no cargo claims, improved trailer utilization, and reduced manual entry errors with their use of the platform.
SkyMatch, via Virtual Vehicle, is available to current Platform Science Marketplace Partners, and will be more broadly available later in 2024.
