ASE offering ADAS L4 Specialist Certification test

Oct. 28, 2024
The L4 ADAS certification test covers most service aspects for radar, camera, ultrasonic, and other advanced systems.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence is offering an ADAS Specialist Certification test (L4) to guarantee that technicians can diagnose, service, and calibrate advanced driver assistance systems on vehicles.

“ASE certifications are the industry's leading way to recognize qualified technicians,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “By 2018, over 92 percent of vehicles had at least one ADAS system so shop owners need assurance that their technicians are well-qualified and experienced in ADAS technology. Earning the L4 ADAS certification is the most effective way to demonstrate the expertise and trustworthiness that both employers and customers seek.”

The L4 test focuses on the diagnosis, service, and calibration of radar, camera, ultrasonic, and other advanced driver assistance systems. The test relates to sample vehicles with ADAS technology used by most manufacturers, with a vehicle description in the vehicle type 1 reference booklet featured in an electronic pop-up during the test.
