E2open Parent Holdings has launched various AI-based tools for transportation companies handling international business. The tools include step-level trade compliance and productivity enhancements, such as automated classifications, regulation summaries, and translation capabilities.
“As a pioneer in embedding AI, machine learning, and advanced decision-making frameworks, e2open has the field-proven ability to help organizations drive better outcomes at points of execution, capabilities that have only improved with recent technology advancements,” said Rachit Lohani, chief product and technology officer at e2open. “Our new AI-driven tools will help businesses streamline global trade and compliance processes, freeing up time for leaders to focus on more important issues impacting their businesses.”
More specifically, e2open’s new features are:
Automated Classifications: Designed to replace manual processing, e2open’s automatic classification feature helps make sure product classifications are accurate and meet evolving regulations. It also allows fleets to audit their existing classification system to reduce risk, customs issues, and potential penalties.
Global Trade Content: The company’s Global Trade Content feature uses a language learning model (LLM) and generative AI to summarize and condense regulatory content into clear summaries that drivers, dispatchers, and other fleet personnel can easily understand.
Enhanced Due Diligence: This feature uses AI to screen product data and records for greater accuracy, including offering transliteration services for localized names from various countries. This feature can also map and cross-reference translation inconsistencies against global data sources to make sure fleets have all the documentation they need, even if the original customer’s information is in a non-standard format or a different language.
Unstructured Document Processing: This feature automates documentation processes for fleets and can map transactional documentation into a structured format to increase efficiency.
According to the company, these kinds of features will help businesses adapt to the current business environment, especially given the volatility of the current trade war. For instance, Phani Reddy, AVP of product management at e2open, argued that AI-powered solutions can help businesses understand their cost escalations due to import tariffs and know how much to charge consumers, while also avoiding any administrative delays at ports and in customs.
“[Companies can use] specific tools, especially powered by AI, to synthesize data related to imports, additional tariffs, potential sourcing options, and landed costs to present alternative sources,” Reddy explained. “Here, the technology is autonomous and is working behind the scenes to ‘digest’ as much business data available to have those insights ready. Of course, it is data dependent and availability of qualitative data.”
