Standards Testing Laboratories (STL) will host Tire Technology 2013, October 15-17 at the company's Massillon, Ohio headquarters.
STL's Tire Technology Seminar is two-and-a-half-day educational program providing a basic yet comprehensive overview of the tire industry's technology, including compounding and manufacturing, tire and wheel design and construction, tire testing and evaluation, materials, tire nomenclature and application. It is designed to benefit attendees ranging from those seeking general knowledge of the design, construction, materials and performance of tires to advanced tire engineers.
Automotive and tire experts in the fields of engineering, engineering mechanics and vehicle dynamics, and chemistry will lead the seminar. With many years of relevant industry service, these professionals will cover tire testing, design and research, engineering and compounding, product development and advanced concepts.
The seminar will include discussion on regulatory and legislative activity and major service issues facing the industry today, as well as an overview of wheels: their types and how they are manufactured and tested. Topics of special interest related to performance include a session on accident reconstruction and forensic studies led by personnel from Trans Tech, STL's investigative sciences division.
Also included is a tour of STL's labs to offer attendees a better understanding of test equipment and methodology. At the conclusion of the seminar, an opportunity to participate in an open Q&A session will enable attendees to apply what they've been exposed to throughout the course of the seminar.
Deadline for registration is September 23. Registration is $975 and includes admission, all materials, three luncheons, an evening banquet and refreshments throughout the course.
