Oct. 31, 2019
The company announced its Tough and Light truck wheel this week at the North American Commercial Vehicle show.

This week, Maxion Wheels unveiled its newest commercial vehicle wheel for North America during a press conference at the North American Commercial Vehicle (NACV) Show in Atlanta. Donald Polk, president of Maxion Wheels of Americas, made the announcement on the new wheel described as Tough and Light.

The Tough and Light truck wheel is a standard 22.5” by 8.25” commercial vehicle steer wheel that weighs 64 lbs, weighing 4 lbs less than its predecessor. The wheel offers a 7,400-lb wheel load rating as well as a new circular hand hole shape. With the circular shape, Maxion deviates from its traditional D-shape.

“Changing the hand hole combined with design optimization analysis reduced wheel structural stresses by more than 10 percent resulting in an even more efficient and durable wheel when compared to the previous generation,” said Polk.

The Tough and Light wheel will be available in 2020.
