The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued a recall notice for Bridgestone's R123 Ecopia tire, with the issue affecting size 295/75R22.5 of the commercial trailer tire. 24 tires manufactured at the company's LaVergne, Tennessee plant were made with one of the three stabilizer ply belts applied in an incorrect orientation, meaning the tires may not meet endurance testing requirements.
Of the 24 affected tires, 18 have been contained, but there are still 6 potentially on operating vehicles.
Overly convex tread shape when fully inflated or a center of the tread that is higher than both shoulders could be indications that a tire might be affected, the NHTSA recall said.
Bridgestone will contact dealers of the affected tires by April 14 with instructions on how to return and recieve replacements. Owners with registered tires will be contacted via mail by May 13.
Tire purchasers may contact customer service at 800-847-327. Further details of the recall are listed here.
