Aperia and Goodyear partner on comprehensive tire monitoring

The exclusive deal combines Aperia's Halo Connect i3 automatic tire inflation solution with Goodyear's comprehensive Tires-as-a-Service platform.

NASHVILLE—Aperia Technologies has made an exclusive agreement with Goodyear to combine their Halo Connect i3 automatic tire inflation with the tire company’s global Tires-as-a-Service (TaaS) platform, the two companies announced at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exposition in Nashville.

The partnership adds Aperia's integrated tire pressure sensing, remote setpoint adjustments, and customized inflation settings to the already comprehensive Goodyear tire monitoring solution.

While the subscription-based TaaS includes Goodyear's premium tires, continuous monitoring, predictive insights, and large service footprint into one platform, the addition of Halo Connect i3 means fleet customers are now able to monitor and maintain inflation pressure at the optimal settings, according to Ralph Dimenna, chief commercial officer at Aperia.

“We provide two times fewer alerts than standard, threshold-based TPMS, so it's only telling you as a fleet what you need to do, when you need to do it, and how critical that situation is,” he explained. “You have no time wasted because you have eyes on that asset at all times.”

Michelle Ross, head of sales and marketing for Goodyear’s TaaS, noted that the major advantage of the system in combination with TaaS is the ability to move from reactive maintenance to proactively taking care of alerts, and the test results are indicative of this benefit.

“Our last mile delivery customers saw a reduction of 80% in their over-the-road breakdowns, and our long haul fleet saw a 50% reduction in breakdowns,” she reported, “and the way we were able to do that was by keeping the tires 95% properly inflated at all times.”

"Maintaining optimal tire pressure is essential for improving fuel efficiency, reducing tire wear, and enhancing overall fleet performance," said Gregory Boucharlat, VP, Goodyear TaaS. "The Halo Connect i3 is an integral component of our comprehensive TaaS solution and we're proud to work with Aperia to deliver a seamless experience and unparalleled value to our fleet customers."

The offering is currently live on the marketplace in the U.S. and Europe.
