VSP News: Kolman's Korner, Episode 124 - Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Phase 2

Jan. 23, 2017
Bill Hicks, director of product planning for SAF-Holland, discusses the Phase 2 of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

The EPA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has come out with Phase 2 of its regulations for greenhouse gas emissions from commercial trucks and buses, which includes trailers for the first time.

This, says Bill Hicks, director of product planning at SAF-Holland, has created opportunities and concerns within the trucking industry.

SAF-Holland is a leading global manufacturer of trailer suspension and axle systems, truck suspensions, fifth wheels, landing gear and coupling products.

The new regulations have caused trailer and component manufacturers to investigate broader technologies.

A key focus is on reducing rolling resistance and weight.

Designed for greater fleet efficiency, SAF-Holland recently introduced its CBX40 AeroBeam Sliding Tandem Axle Air Suspension.

On the subject of innovation, Hicks says the trucking industry is changing very dynamically.
