Ask the Expert: What failure trends do you see in the class 7 and 8 truck world?

Nov. 17, 2016
Incorrect maintenance procedures are causing frequent premature failures of 15.5" clutches.

Q: What failure trends do you see in the class 7 and 8 truck world?

A: We are seeing frequent premature failures of 15.5” clutches due to the use of incorrect maintenance procedures. Specifically, we see improper clutch adjustment, which causes the clutch to slip and in many cases results in irreversible damage due to heat. These failures are not covered by warranty as the product itself is not defective. Rather, there is a gap in the education of the technician.
