TIA offers new training class in Spanish

Jan. 5, 2021
The Level 300 program will cover 18 different modules, including Occupational Safety Health Administration requirements and single-piece and multi-piece rim demounting and mounting.

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is expanding its training offerings taught in Spanish, with the introduction of a virtual Spanish Certified Commercial Tire Service (CTS) training class in February.

The Level 300 program, designed for experienced employees with at least one year of hands-on experience, will be taught in Spanish by a TIA staff member via the Zoom video conferencing platform. The coursework will cover 18 different modules, including Occupational Safety Health Administration requirements and single-piece and multi-piece rim demounting and mounting. Classwork will include “live” training in combination with videos and images from the association’s Certified CTS program.

To pass the program, students must successfully complete the final exam and show proficiency in the shop by demonstrating their ability to perform various skills. This hands-on work must be witnessed and signed off on by a service manager or supervisor. Students who pass the course will receive a certificate, 13 uniform patches, and a two-year subscription to TIA’s bi-monthly publication, Commercial Tire Service Today.

The class will take place February 16-17. It involves six hours of classwork each day from 10 AM – 1 PM and 2 – 5 PM.

“The addition of this class addresses the coast-to-coast need for commercial tire and wheel service training in Spanish,” said Dan Nothdurft, president, TIA. “We are fortunate to have a bilingual instructor, Jose Moreno, on staff who is fluent in Spanish.”
