Free AI tool from Find Technician shortens shops' search for good technicians
When a vehicle rolls into the bay, you obviously need the right tools to fix it. But when the right technicians aren’t coming through your doors, do you have the right tools to fix that problem? Technician Find, a job-sourcing company for independent shops, wants that answer to be “yes,” and has launched a new virtual product called the Shop Owner’s AI Toolbox.
Leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, this digital toolbox was designed to help shops recruit, hire, and retain technicians with several features. These include:
- Custom GPT Prompts: Exclusive AI tools tailored to optimize job postings, attract candidates, and streamline the hiring process.
- Fill-in-the-Blank Templates: Save time and ensure quality with pre-written job ads and recruitment communications.
- Live Expert Coaching: Receive guidance on integrating AI into hiring strategies from industry experts like Technician Find founder, Christopher T. Lawson.
- Networking Opportunities via the Technician Find Skool Membership Community, a private community of shop owners focused on recruiting and retention best practices. It currently has 282 members and offers training and advice modules, in addition to the forum where shop owners can share advice and challenges.
“Staffing challenges are one of the biggest barriers to growth for independent auto repair shops,” said Christopher T. Lawson, founder of Technician Find. “Our Shop Owner’s AI Toolbox combines cutting-edge technology with proven recruitment systems, giving shop owners the tools to build high-performance teams. We’re excited to offer this resource for free to help shops thrive.”
Find Technician also can handle the recruiting for shops, though it caps the number of shops it works with at 30. Geography is also considered as to not have participating shops compete against each other.
One of shops’ main areas of weakness in terms of recruiting is how they advertise, Lawson noted on the website, finding they “were boring, uninspiring and looked like every other tech ad out there,’ he wrote. The company also offers the Ultimate Technician Ad Checklist to help shops shore up how they market themselves to prospective new techs. It can be downloaded for free on the site.
