Accessing TMC Connect – TMC’s new collaborative and social networking site – is easy. There are three simple steps to quickly take advantage of the new system, which is located at http://tmcconnect.trucking.org.
1. Update your profile under the “My Profile” button in the menu bar by clicking on the link to import your LinkedIn profile. This eliminates the need for uploading your photo and bio, etc., again. If you don't have a LinkedIn profile, simply enter your information on the “Profile” page.
2. Use the member “Directory” button to search for at least three of your peers and send them a "contact request." If you're unsure on how to do this, search for “Robert Braswell,” technical director of TMC and community manager of TMC Connect, and send him a contact request by clicking on the link next to his name in the search results.
3. If you have an industry-related question that you wish to ask your peers, post the question to that person in the Directory.
4. There are dedicated communities within the menu bar’s “Communities” button. There are three types of communities at present: TMC Study Groups, TMC Task Forces and TMC Committees.
Task forces should post drafts and drafts of minutes, plus share other documents at their respective community page. Each page has provision for events, announcements blogs, discussion threads and a library.
Study Groups may do similarly – posting draft presentations, asking questions, etc.
If you have questions or suggestions for improving this new member benefit, please use the "send a message" link on Braswell’s member page.
