U.S. Xpress, Inc. accepted an invitation to join the Alliance for Driver Safety & Security (The Trucking Alliance), beginning in 2017.

U.S. Xpress, Inc. accepted an invitation to join the Alliance for Driver Safety & Security (The Trucking Alliance), beginning in 2017.

U.S. Xpress is the 2nd largest privately owned trucking company in the United States and is headquartered in

Chattanooga, Tennessee.

“U.S. Xpress is one of the nation’s top freight carriers because its co-founders, Max Fuller and the late Pat

Quinn, created a culture that a company can be efficient for customers without sacrificing drivers’ safety,” said

Craig Harper, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., and a

member of the Alliance Board of Directors. “U.S. Xpress continues to exhibit these characteristics under Max’s

leadership, and the Trucking Alliance will benefit from their membership.”

Eric Fuller, President and Chief Operating officer at U.S. Xpress, will join the Trucking Alliance Board of

Directors. “U.S. Xpress was founded on the cornerstone belief that safety and service always work hand in

hand,” Fuller said, “and the Trucking Alliance is advancing safety reforms that can improve highway safety and

the quality of life for truck drivers. Training, education and safety are core values at U.S. Xpress, and we look

forward to working with these elite carriers that share the same principles.”

Fuller added that Lisa Pate, Chief Administrative Officer at U.S. Xpress and Quinn's daughter, will serve on the

Alliance Advisory Group, a committee that assists the board of directors with analysis and recommendations

on safety regulations and proposals.

Steve Williams, chairman and CEO of Maverick USA and Trucking Alliance president, commented that Quinn

was instrumental in helping organize the Trucking Alliance in 2011. “Pat was a close friend and an industry

leader who helped create the framework for the Alliance, so it’s especially rewarding to have U.S. Xpress going

forward in the group,” Williams said.

Williams explained that Trucking Alliance member companies support six operating principles when affiliating,

all of which exceed current minimum federal regulations for motor carriers but can ensure greater highway

safety. “Carriers in the Alliance are striving to make a difference by investing in new technologies and sound

operating principles that can lower the number of truck accidents on our nation’s highways,” he said.

In addition to U.S. Xpress, other companies joining the Trucking Alliance in 2017 include North Carolina-based

Cargo Transporters; Aon Transportation & Risk Solutions, a national truck insurance brokerage; and KLLM

Transport Services, the second largest temperature controlled carrier in the U.S. Only a select number of

additional carriers are invited to join
