“The ‘Opening Day’ Deslugger promotion is our way to thank our loyal customers for using our award-winning Deslugger,” said Benny Araujo, marketing manager for Four Seasons. “The Deslugger is another powerful demonstration of the innovative engineering and problem solving product expertise that SMP Temperature Control brings to real world problems.”

Compressors on many modern A/C systems are mounted low in the engine. This location leaves the compressor prone to liquid slugging. When the vehicle sits, oil and liquid refrigerant collect in the compressor body. The result can be hydraulic lock with compressor damage. The Deslugger solves this liquid slugging problem by pulsing the compressor clutch multiple times during initial engagement. By gradually engaging the compressor, trapped liquid is gently moved out, preventing hydraulic damage. Once the deslugging function is complete, the compressor reverts to normal cycling operation until the system has been off again for more than 30 minutes.

Four Seasons offers the Deslugger for 06-02 Honda CRVs with a scroll compressor or with applications using a two wire lead coil, the GM Deslugger, which covers 09-00 GM applications with Denso 10S models, and the Chrysler/Dodge Deslugger for Chrysler Voyager and Dodge Caravan applications with Denso 10S models.
