Cygnus Business Media announces strategic partnership with PartsRiver.com to create FleetPartsBuyer.com

July 10, 2013
The new site puts more than 9 million part numbers at the fingertips of corporate, fleet and maintenance executives with rapid connections to parts manufacturers and local distributor/dealer networks

Cygnus Business Media and PartsRiver.com announced a partnership in which the Cygnus' Vehicle Repair Group will launch FleetPartsBuyer.com, an online business-to-business marketplace for heavy-duty truck parts that will be powered by PartsRiver.com.

FleetPartsBuyer.com will run on the PartsRiver platform with more than 9 million heavy duty truck part numbers including cross-references and VMRS classification codes.

"This partnership represents a new and exciting chapter in the story of Fleet Maintenance magazine and our Vehicle Repair Group," said Larry Greenberger, group publisher, Ttransportation group, Cygnus Business Media. "In terms of what FleetPartsBuyer.com will bring to the market, we intend to help our customers find parts they need with the option to purchase parts through local sources."

"We are very pleased by our strategic partnership with Cygnus business Media," said Sherif Danish, CEO, PartsRiver. "Our progressive services to part sellers allows them to quickly extend their reach to new customers without changing their current business model, while letting them adapt to the evolving eCommerce landscape at their own pace."

Key features offered by FleetPartsBuyer.com allow buyers to:

  • Locate replacement parts from thousands of manufacturers
  • Find local parts distributors
  • Locate alternative parts
  • Submit requests for quotes on pricing and availability
  • Purchase online via a single shopping cart, in cases where parts are available from distributors

In addition to serving fleet operations, the site provides other important benefits to manufacturers and distributors. Rather than disrupting business-to-business parts distribution practices, FleetPartsBuyer.com will utilize existing industry channels and practices whereby manufacturers' products are sold through local distributors and dealers.

Distributors can gain access to new buyers by using the service to accept requests for quotes (RFQ), list their locations and contact information, link their existing e-commerce capabilities to real-time part searches occurring at FleetPartsBuyer.com, or launch their own ecommerce capabilities if they do not have them already.

Distributors who utilize any aspect of the site's services will gain access to its powerful analytics and cross-referencing capabilities, enabling them to implement demand-based extensions based on their line cards, as well as demand-based extensions based on cross-references of alternative parts.
