The trailer tester, paired with Lite-Check’s SENTRY, provides techs with smart trailer data such as access to a trailer’s ABS, electrical, and air systems, operating information, and repair histories.
Lite-Check has debuted the Stryker 1000, a new trailer tester that builds on the Inspector 930 to help service smart trailers.
Skyler Davis, director of product support for Lite-Check, explained that the tool was designed to help technicians view and understand service messages coming in from the latest trailers’ CAN networks. With these more advanced trailers, the company argued that technicians could experience false positives from using the wrong tool and add to a vehicle’s downtime.
“The only way to really combat this problem is either A), to have superior training from the manufacturer, which is unlikely, and B), a way to interface directly,” Davis said. “And that's where Lite-Check wants to introduce the Stryker 1000.”
The system features a touchscreen interface and tablet integration, allowing technicians easy access to trailer system data. More specifically, Stryker 1000 offers a CAN bus connector for direct access to a trailer’s ABS, electrical, and air systems, and can display fault codes, smart trailer data, and trailer operating information.
Additionally, it can capture beginning and ending diagnostic data, as well as completed repairs, and store this information in Lite-Check’s fleet maintenance software SENTRY. This allows fleets to keep DOT inspection records and service histories for each trailer in their fleet. According to Davis, this can help fleets be prepared for compliance audits.
“When you can make audits simple, saying, ‘Here are my units, here's when they are inspected, and here was their status,’ that is how we prevent the weeks [where you] don't have any hair left,” he commented.
The Stryker 1000 is also Bluetooth capable and 12V based so that it can run from a battery, plug into a wall socket, or work in the shop yard.
