ABS, engine, transmission identification included in Mitchell1 software update
Mitchell 1's latest software feature for its TruckSeries maintenance program helps technicians locate and recognize anti-lock braking systems (ABS), engine, and transmission ID tags on trucks, as well as the system control module, the company stated in a press release.
“We spend a lot of time with customers to ensure that TruckSeries is user-friendly and meets their expectations. Sometimes we hear about tasks that cause a minor bump in the road, and addressing these issues is a priority for us,” said Kristy Coffman, director of Mitchell 1’s commercial vehicle group.

To access the identification tag feature, users must sign in to their TruckSeries account, where they are able to navigate to the tag locations through either 1Search or the Service Manual sections. Then the technician must select “Common Specs & Procedures,” followed by “ABS-Transmission-Engine-Identification Tag Locations.”
Doing so will display a series of articles, one for each system ID and tag locations. Choosing any one of the articles displays a dropdown of manufacturers for the various truck makes and models available through TruckSeries.
Once a technician has found and identified the controller they need, they can open the TruckSeries vehicle selector and find the controller from the menu. This also allows them to open and enlarge controller images for easier viewing.
“Adding these ID tags was fairly easy to accomplish and has been very well received,” Coffman added. “It saves time so technicians can get trucks back on the road faster. This frees up service bays for additional jobs and in turn, boosts overall revenue for the shop.”
