Dear Fleet Maintenance readers:
It is with some sadness that I inform you today is my last day as Editor of Fleet Maintenance. The simple fact is, it is my time to move on to the next stage in my career. While that does bring excitement, it will not be easy to part with the industry I have called home for the last four years.
Growing up in the late 1980s and early 1990s, my family had (and still has to this day) a small trucking business, and I remember being in awe of the drivers who commanded these behemoths down the road and backed them into narrow spaces. I was perhaps more fascinated, however, by the technicians who crawled around beneath, behind, and inside the trucks, servicing and maintaining them to keep them operating in top condition. I have always had a fascination with how things work, and those techs were happy to teach.
Fast forward to 2017 when I joined the Fleet Maintenance editorial staff, I thought I knew everything there was to know about trucks. Boy, was I wrong. Having a background in the industry was helpful, but I had a lot to learn. Fortunately, the trucking industry is the closest knit, most collaborative group of individuals I have had the pleasure of working with. Between conducting interviews for articles I was writing, attending trade shows and industry events, and just having conversations with many of you, I learned more than I ever thought possible. For that, I thank you.
As I move on, I leave you in the more-than-capable hands of our outstanding Editorial Director and fearless leader, Erica Schueller, and our talented and intelligent Associate Editor, Tyler Fussner. You can expect the same great content Fleet Maintenance has always delivered, as well as new perspectives from my replacement.
Thank you, readers, for your support over the years. You are the best audience an editor could ask for.
Cheers!
David Brierley, Editor, Fleet Maintenance
