Five tips to becoming tornado-aware

Unlike hurricanes, which can be tracked days in advance of making landfall, tornadoes can appear suddenly.

That, officials at Zurich – a leading multi-line insurance provider with a global network of subsidiaries and offices (www.zurich.com) – say, allows only a few hours for warnings of deadly storm conditions to be issued. Occasionally, tornadoes develop so rapidly that little, if any, advance warning is possible.

While tornado damage can cripple or even destroy a company, companies can take measures to protect people, property and business income, they point out. The key is advance preparation, vigilance and rapid response to dangerous conditions.
