(Nominate your 2014 Mobile Distributor of the Year candidate now.)

Nominations must be complete to be considered. The staff of Professional Distributor judges the nominations and decides the winner based on a numerical score and nominee comments.

The winner will be featured in a cover story in the April 2014 Professional Distributor. The winner will receive a plaque of the magazine cover in addition to a special trophy.

Following is a detailed description of the qualifications.

Contest Summary

The Mobile Tool Distributor of the Year is someone who presents a positive image of the mobile tool sales business to their peers, to their customers and to people outside the industry.

Business Performance

A nominee’s business performance will be judged by percentage of growth over the past year, in sales dollars and/or in number of customers. This is not necessarily about the top sales performers, but about those distributors who have generated the greatest amount of growth of their business. That growth must be confirmed by the District Manager.

Attitude/Personality

The winning distributor is conscious of the role of attitude and personality in business. Do his customers like him? Do his fellow distributors like him and/or respect him? Is he a positive person, a professional, a potential leader? Nominators must briefly explain how his attitude affects his success, especially if he or she has what many would consider a poor attitude but is still a successful tool distributor.

Does he share helpful tips or other information with his fellow distributors? Does he interact positively with other distributors, and if so, with only his own brand or with other brands too? We wish to avoid distributors who freely exhibit a negative attitude towards their competition, people who divide rather than unite within their own brand and/or within the industry.

Appearance

Does the distributor look professional? Is the truck kept clean, neat and orderly? Do the distributor and the truck present a positive visual image of the mobile tool sales industry?

Industry Involvement

Does this distributor actively participate in his or her industry? Is he or she a member of one or multiple industry associations Examples might include the AAIA, ASA, ASE, Training Events, flag-sponsored distributor shows, and more.

Other Interests

Does he or she participate in the local community as a scout master, team sponsor, volunteer firefighter, etc? Does he or she attend meetings of the local chamber of commerce, school board, township government, etc?

Or, does he or she participate in another activity that has its own community, such as auto racing, team sports, performing arts or an active religious community? While we understand the long hours required to be successful in this business, we’re looking for people who also have a life outside of their profession, one that involves other people.

Recognition and Testimonials

Have any customers, civic organizations, professional organizations and/or others recognized this person or recommended them in any way for either professional or other achievements?

Innovations, Marketing and Sales Strategies

The winning distributor regularly uses non-traditional methods to find tools or information about tools, such as the Internet, texting, social media, QR codes or other technologies. He/she also attends training (outside any required/provided by the company) to learn about tools, about selling or anything else that may improve his/her effectiveness as a distributor.
