The Detroit D12 Transmission is a 12-speed, automated manual transmission with shorter gear steps. The D12 was designed with a number of efficiency features to help achieve optimal fuel economy, including: Optional direct drive for a greater mesh between gears; eCoast, which allows the vehicle to coast down grades; Skip Shift to help increase shifting efficiency by automatically skipping unnecessary gears;and Active Driveline Protection that calculates the torque wind-up in the drivelin and regulates with engine torque control for enhanced driving comfort and less driveline wear.
