At the North American Commercial Vehicle (NACV) Show in Atlanta, Cummins announced they will be expanding their engine lineup for 2020, providing platforms for line-haul, regional-haul, heavy-haul, vocational, and specialty applications. The platforms include a new X15 Efficiency Series and a new X15 Productivity Series engine.
The 2020 X15 Efficiency Series engine features hardware enhancements for better air handling and lower friction, and will offer the new EX ratings that will “deliver three to five percent additional fuel economy for those customers that need it,” said Brett Merritt, vice president of the on-highway engine business at Cummins.
The 2020 X15 Productivity Series is designed for multi-purpose, vocational, and heavy-haul customers. “The Productivity Series is specifically engineered for vocational customers who really need to balance power and the efficiency to meet their duty cycle need,” said Merritt. The Productivity Series offers a wider engine speed range and six new ratings to the X15 family.
Additionally, the company noted that it will continue offering the same X15 Performance Series engine with no additional updates for 2020.
