EnerDel Inc., a supplier of advanced Li-ion batteries, will furnish and deliver eight PP320-689-LP Vigor+ Low-Profile Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Transportation Services for installation into OTS diesel-hybrid buses.
An EnerDel demonstration pack has operated in regular passenger service for several months on the tropical island of Oahu. The additional eight packs are targeted for delivery in Q3 this year and will initiate ESS upgrades for the OTS fleet, giving new life to the transit authority’s New Flyer 40' Low Floor Diesel (Cummins ISL) Allison H40 EP Hybrid coaches. EnerDel released the PP320-689-LP Vigor+ in May 2014 for commercial use. The purpose-built Vigor+ offers Public Transit Authorities a cost effective direct replacement alternative to OEM solutions.
“We are excited to have been selected as the next generation ESS supplier for OTS, and proud to have demonstrated our product capability in this environmentally demanding territory,” said Tomasz Poznar, EnerDel’s VP of transportation sales. “Our Li-ion ESS solution provides significant technical advantages, favorable cost and enhanced warranty terms over NiMH ESS offerings, ultimately increasing value for OTS and other public transit authorities across North America.”
