New SumoSprings applications for popular Ford shuttle bus chassis improve ride without maintenance requirements of airbags

SuperSprings International has designed new SumoSprings applications to address the unique needs of shuttle buses. The SumoSprings “airless airbags” can be mounted to the front and rear suspensions of the Ford E-Series Cutaway, a popular platform for passenger transport vehicles.

“A shuttle’s ride must be as stable as possible to provide optimal rider comfort,” says Mike Visser, president of SuperSprings International. “We conducted extensive testing to determine which SumoSprings densities would provide the best ride under a consistent load.”

SumoSprings are manufactured from a proprietary microcellular urethane and bolt directly to the vehicle frame. They fill the gaps left by short factory bump stops, improving ride on rough roads. They are completely maintenance-free and will never sag due to a leak, offering a “fit-it-and-forget-it” solution.

SumoSprings can be compressed by 80 percent of their original height with full memory rebound, delivering better performance than competing rubber products.

Two new applications – one for the front suspension and one for the rear – were developed for the E-Series Cutaway. The front SumoSprings (P/N SSF-106) fit any E-350 or E-450 Cutaway chassis built from 1996 to present. The rear SumoSprings (P/N SSR-106) utilize brackets designed to provide a factory-like fit on 2001 to present models.

Each version is available in different densities designed to suit any need. SuperSprings representatives can be reached at (866) 898-0720 to help determine which density will work best based on vehicle setup and intended use.

“With both the front and rear suspensions equipped with SumoSprings, you will experience less side-to-side body roll and eliminate harsh bottoming-out, which significantly improves both the passenger and driver experience,” says Visser.

All SumoSprings are manufactured in the U.S.A. For more information about SumoSprings or any of the other suspension-enhancing products available from SuperSprings International, visit www.supersprings.com or call (866) 898-0720.
