Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group of the APRA awarded the company with honors.

At the HDRG Remanufacturing Summit in Las Vegas on January 23, the Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group (HDRG) of the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) awarded TransAxle its prestigious “Mike Hill Heavy Duty Remanufacturer of the Year Award.” The award is given to a company or individual who has demonstrated innovative ways to create and grow a successful business model and in the process supported industry efforts to advance the science of remanufacturing.

According to Bill Gager, President of APRA/HDRG, the panel’s decision to award TransAxle of Cinnaminson, New Jersey this year’s prestigious award was because they are a leading independent remanufacturer in the aftermarket. “The recent emphasis of heavy duty engine parts remanufacturers as a constituent group within HDRG has expanded our horizons to an all encompassing view of the marketplace including independents, major OEM component suppliers, OEM service as well as the traditional rebuilders of electrical, drivetrain, brake, and steering,” stated Gager. “With over 300 members within the current HDRG membership structure, there seems to be plenty of room for growth and HDRG welcomes everyone involved in heavy duty remanufacturing.”

TransAxle was selected because they are a leading remanufacturer with expertise, depth of inventory and integrated logistics to provide a comprehensive solution to customers remanufacturing needs. TransAxle has four remanufacturing plants, 22 distribution locations, 35 regional sales professionals, 50 inside technical experts and 80 delivery people. Their mission statement, according to CEO Dave Olsen, is “To be the premier remanufacturer of transmissions, axles and hydraulics.”

Olsen added, “Remanufacturing is receiving a great deal of attention in industries as diverse as printer cartridges and cell phones. But the heart of remanufacturing has long been the automotive and heavy duty industries. On behalf of the TransAxle team, we are excited to be recognized by our peers in the industry.”

Their “Green Commitment” is also strong. In their 30+ years in business they have salvaged over 100,000 tons of steel and aluminum destined for landfills. They retrofitted three of their production facilities with high efficiency T5 lighting which will reduce electricity demand by 65 percent while providing a better environment for their employees.

Their Allison remanufacturing center is and ISO 9001-2008 certified company ensuring a consistent documented method of remanufacturing. TransAxle provides remanufactured product to on-highway, school bus, transit/coach bus, pickup truck/van, step van/parcel delivery, refuse, off-highway, construction, heavy equipment, mining/quarry and oil and gas industries.

TransAxle has been a longtime member of APRA and its’ HDRG Division.

Dave Olsen accepted the award from Sandra Standley, HDRG Chairman. TransAxle became the 5th recipient of this award joining past recipients Precision Rebuilders (St. Clair, Missouri), Weller Truck Parts (Grand Rapids, Michigan), ArvinMeritor (Plainfield, Indiana) and Camerota Truck Parts (Enfield, Connecticut). Standley stated, “Having TransAxle receive this award is a fitting tribute for a company that has long supported the remanufacturing industry.”
