The Stemco Discover XR wheel seal is made with a high-quality temperature-resistant material and features multi-labyrinth sealing for long-life applications designed for increased highway speeds and higher-temperature air disc brakes. The seals are equipped with patented GlideLock technology, which reduces installation force by 50% with no pre-lube required. Discover XR seals’ piloted entry allows for easy and square installation. The ridged double wall steel case is the impact point for the tool head, maintaining the seal’s internal geometries. The seal consists of a bonded, ribbed rubber OD and ID for easier removal without special tools. Stemco’s patented “SMART” anti-rotation features ensure positive positioning and locking of the seal to the spindle. A high temperature elastomeric co-polymer sealing element incorporates hydrodynamic pumping features.

Q: What are the expected benefits of using the Discover XR?
CU: By having reduced installation force for the seal, Discover XR reduces heat generation internal to the seal. This greatly extends the life of the seal and extends intervals between routine maintenance.
Q: How will this product help technicians during service?
CU: Technicians will experience smoother installations as well as easier removal without special tools. Additionally, technicians will not have to lube the ID of the seal without having an adverse effect on seal performance. Discover XR is going to not only simplify routine maintenance, but also extend the intervals at which seal replacement is necessary.
Q: When will it be available?
CU: The Discover XR is available now as part of our Trifecta pre-adjusted hub assembly and will be available as a stand-alone product in Q2 of 2022.
