McCarthy Tire Service, one of the top commercial tire dealers in the United States, has purchased the commercial division of Sandone Tire in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The company’s retail stores were not part of the agreement. “We are pleased to welcome Sandone Tire’s commercial customers into the McCarthy Tire family,” said John D. McCarthy Jr., president of McCarthy Tire Service. “This acquisition will expand our coverage in the northeastern and central Pennsylvania market area.”
Sandone Tire’s truck tire sales and service operations will be merged into McCarthy Tire’s current commercial location in nearby Dickson City. Eight employees will join McCarthy Tire Service.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
McCarthy Tire Service, in business since 1926, is the sixth largest independent commercial tire dealership in North America with 2016 commercial-related sales of $301 million. It is also ranked as the eighth largest independent retreader of light truck and medium duty truck tires, and one of the top 50 retail tire dealers in the country.
The Sandone family has been in the tire business for more than 50 years.
