Freightliner and Western Star Trucks recall 3,000 trucks

Improperly tightened brake caliper mounting bolts may come detached on certain models.

Daimler Trucks North America recalled 3,000 Freightliner and Western Star trucks to fix improperly tightened brake caliper mounting bolts, which may come detached leading to a trucks inability to brake.

The recall affects 3,007 vehicles built between May 2 and Oct. 31 including five models of 2018 Frieghtliner trucks and three models of 2018 Western Star Trucks: 

2018 Frieghtliner trucks affected:  

  • 108SD
  • 114SD
  • Cascadia
  • M2 Business Class vehicles
  • Custom Chassis S2C 106 chassis
  • S2G Cab/Chassis vehicles

2018 Western Star Trucks affected:

  • 4700
  • 4900
  • 5700

Beginning Jan. 25, Daimler dealers will inspect the brake mounting bolts for loose bolts and tighten them if necessary.
