Volvo launches electric truck with 372-mile range

Sept. 12, 2024
The company’s updated FH Electric will provide greater range by leveraging the company’s driveline technology, e-axle, improved battery management systems, and more.

Volvo is releasing its next generation of heavy-duty electric trucks, this time as a long-range version of the FH Electric with a range of up to 372 miles (or 600 km). The new vehicle is meant to provide an EV that can tackle interregional and long-distance routes and drive a full working day without needing to recharge.

“Our new electric flagship will be a great complement to our wide range of electric trucks and enable zero-exhaust emission transport also for the longer distances,” said Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks. “It will be a great solution for transport companies with a high annual mileage on their trucks and with a strong commitment to reduce CO2.”

The company expects to release the truck for sale in Europe in the second half of 2025. It utilizes Volvo’s driveline technology and e-axle, which is designed to leave space for more capacity on the truck, to achieve its increased range. Additionally, more efficient batteries, an improved battery management system, and increased powertrain efficiency have contributed to the next-gen FH Electric’s abilities.
