Ford starts shipping extended range E-Transits

Sept. 4, 2024
The latest version of the electric van can go up to 159 miles on a single charge, supporting work over longer distances.

The 2024 E-Transit with Enhanced Range, the latest version of Ford Pro's electric van that boasts up to 32% more range, is now shipping to customers across the country. The company said the new E-Transit has a range up to 159 miles.

The van already serves a variety of industries, but the enhanced range is expected to check even more boxes and fit more use cases, like refrigerated delivery.

The E-Transit also includes dual onboard chargers that deliver a 22% faster charge time than before when using Ford Pro’s 80A Series 2 charger and available Ford Pro charging software to help identify the best times to charge, the company said.

Key Features

  • Enhanced-Range Battery: Enhanced range capability provides an estimated range of up to 159 miles with 89 kWh of usable energy, supporting work over longer distances.
  • 266 hp and 317 ft.-lbs. of torque
  • Smart Technology: Available E-Telematics helps fleets optimize vehicle performance with remote commands and controls, in-vehicle driver assist features like Standard Lane-Keeping System, Pre-Collision Assist with AEB, and high-resolution cameras can help to enhance safety and driver confidence.

Key Highlights

  • Available Incentives: E-Transit qualifies for the federal $7,500 Commercial Clean Vehicle Tax Credit, as well as other state and local incentives.
  • Lower Total Cost of Ownership: E-Transit helps fleets reduce their total cost of ownership with reduced fuel, maintenance, and operating costs.
  • Supporting U.S. EV Manufacturing: E-Transit is assembled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri. The Rawsonville Components Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, produces the E-Transit's new enhanced range battery.
  • Sustainability Initiative: E-Transit has saved over 3 million gallons of gas and reduced CO2 emissions by more than 25 million kilograms, the equivalent of planting 413,377 tree seedlings and letting them grow for 10 years, Ford says.

2024 marks the 10-year anniversary of Transit in the United States. Since beginning U.S. production in April 2014, more than 1.2 million Transit vans have been assembled at KCAP, and 99% of them are still on the road today.
