ChargePoint is expanding its charging software platform capabilities to work with the hardware of other OEM makes and models. LG chargers are the first that are available to work with the expanded platform.
“ChargePoint remains focused on delivering integrated, networked charging solutions that enable a seamless charging experience for drivers and site hosts,” said Rich Mohr, SVP, Americas at ChargePoint. “By partnering with additional charging hardware manufacturers, we are enabling more customers to use the ChargePoint software platform to power their EV charging programs, delivering a world-class driver experience.”
Through the company’s platform, fleets can monitor individual chargers and vehicles, gaining insight into electric station health and setting proactive alerts for any health issues. They can also examine vehicle charging statuses, automate charging based on the time of day and demand to avoid utility upgrades, and track vehicle location and efficiency. Additionally, the platform can integrate telematics, route scheduling, and fuel cards, all while providing access to ChargePoint’s network of commercial vehicle chargers.

With the expanded hardware options, customers can choose to use bundled hardware and software from ChargePoint or hardware from a third-party manufacturer, the company says, which they can still manage via their existing ChargePoint software. Additionally, OEMs can partner with the company to offer “ChargePoint Ready” hardware, offering pre-configured charging stations that are already set up with ChargePoint and coming with support services. OEMs can also partner with the company to test and certify their stations, ensuring their compatibility with ChargePoint’s platform before providing customers with network integration kits to connect and manage their charging program.
For LG chargers, ChargePoint expects LG’s commercial charging solution to be ready for sale in Q3 2024.
