NHTSA’s latest safety notices feature missing ABS functions, inoperative airbags, and more.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Autocar, Ford, Toyota, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Autocar DC models’ inoperative forward collision warning system

Autocar is recalling certain 2023 Autocar DC (Legend) trucks. The forward collision warning system may be inoperative due to a software error. An inoperative forward collision warning system that does not function as intended can increase the risk of a crash.

Autocar DC models’ cab shock absorber bracket fasteners may detach

Autocar is recalling certain 2020-2026 Autocar DC (Legend) trucks. The cab shock absorber bracket fasteners may have been improperly secured, allowing the fasteners to detach. A detached fastener can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 958 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and secure or replace the fasteners as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 27. Owners may contact Autocar at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is DC-2502.

The remote fuel filter hoses may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 277 vehicles. Cummins will replace the fuel hoses. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 11. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 800-547-0712 or Cummins customer service at 800-286-6467. DTNA's number for this recall is F1016.

Ford F-150 models’ steering gear assembled incorrectly

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024 F-150 vehicles. The steering gear assembly may have been assembled with an incorrect rack, which can cause the gears to fracture. A fractured steering gear can cause the steering to bind or lock, resulting in a loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects three vehicles. Dealers will replace the steering gear assembly. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 10. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S04.

Mack models’ missing ABS function for trailer

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2010-2018 MRU and 2019-2025 Terrapro towing vehicles. The vehicles are missing the anti-lock brake warning light and circuitry that controls the anti-lock brake function for an attached trailer. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems." Driving without a functioning anti-lock brake system may result in the trailer not braking as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 233 vehicles. Dealers will repair the chassis wire harness and replace the fuse terminals as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 21. Owners may contact MFTA customer service at 877-711-0707. MFTA's number for this recall is C10129.

An electrical connection inside the steering column's spiral cable assembly may be insufficiently welded, causing the connection to separate and deactivate the driver's airbag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." A deactivated driver's airbag will not deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

This recall potentially affects 1,716 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the spiral cable assembly as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 30. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 25TA02. Lexus' number for this recall is 25LA02.
