The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) removed the prerequisite test requirements for the ASE Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Specialist Certification test (L4). According to ASE, this will allow more technicians to take the test.
“Shops are performing more ADAS service and repairs than ever before, and it is important that they can demonstrate to their customers that the service professionals on staff can diagnose, service, and calibrate ADAS on vehicles,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “By removing the prerequisites to taking the L4 test, more service professionals are eligible to prepare for and take this challenging test.”
The test currently covers the diagnosis, service, and calibration of radar, cameras, ultrasonic, and other ADAS components. The questions specifically consider sample vehicles with ADAS technologies used by most manufacturers, the organization said in a press release, with the vehicle fully described in the composite vehicle type 1 reference booklet provided in a pop-up during the test.
For those wishing to take the test, ASE offers a free study guide for the L4 test. Test takers can register here.
