Extend expiring ASE certifications with renewal app

Nov. 29, 2022
The ASE renewal app allows technicians to gradually apply for certification extensions via a series of questions in each area they are certified in.

Along with remote certification testing and additional certification exams for advanced driver assistance systems, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has increased the accessibility of their exams with a new app. Those with the ASE renewal app may now receive a one-year extension for topics A1-A9 that are set to expire on Dec. 31.

In order easily renew their certifications, technicians do not need to register for a testing center or take time off for an exam. Instead, the app sends those looking to extend their licensure one question per certification topic. Technicians can then answer their topic questions at their leisure, as long as they do so within an allotted timeframe. Once done, the app will explain which answer is correct and why for continuous learning.

For every correct answer, a technician earns points towards their certification renewal. In the meantime, if a user misses a question, they’ll get a chance to try again later.

Additional features include a discussion forum for technicians to utilize communal knowledge as they advance their careers. All of these features can be accessed online or via a phone or tablet. However, the company also emphasized that the renewal app is not a replacement for traditional certification testing.

Regardless, the new application is another step towards ensuring technicians can easily update their knowledge and provide better service to fleets.
