ASE Education Foundation accepting nominations for instructor award
Feb. 6, 2025
The winner will receive a plaque, $1,000, and an expenses-paid trip to the ASE Instructor Training Conference, fall board of directors meeting, and the annual service professionals recognition banquet.
The ASE Education Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the 2025 Outstanding Instructor of the Year award. The award is for teachers in high schools and colleges from ASE-accredited auto, diesel and truck, and collision repair programs, and honors Dr. Byrl Shoemaker, the former state director of vocational and adult education at the Ohio Department of Education.
"Dr. Byrl Shoemaker was one of the remarkable individuals in the automotive service education field whose impact endures well beyond his time," said Mike Coley, president of the ASE Education Foundation. "To honor his memory, the ASE Education Foundation annually recognizes an outstanding instructor. This lifetime achievement award recognizes extraordinary educators whose dedication to technical education mirrors Dr. Shoemaker's unwavering passion."
Nominees must be submitted by an administrator, such as a principal, program director, dean, department chair, or CTE director, with a final deadline of March 31, 2025. The nomination form can be accessed here.
Finalists will then be contacted by an ASE Education Foundation field manager to verify their information and eligibility. Once a winner has been chosen, they will receive a plaque, $1,000 award, and an expenses-aid trip to ASE’s Instructor Training Conference in St. Louis from July 21-24, as well as the ASE fall board of directors meeting and annual service professionals recognition banquet on Nov. 19 in Savannah, Georgia.
