Schley introduces their G.M. Harmonic Damper Holding Tool, part #YA6280, for help in the removal and installation of the crank bolt on 1997 and later Gen III 5.7-liter V-8 engines, which can be found on Camaros, Corvettes, Firebirds and Trans Ams. These damper pulleys need a special tool to hold the pulley stationary in order to remove the center bolt. In replacing the center bolt after installation of the pulley, factory specifications require 240 pounds of torque in order to properly seat the pulley. Schley states that their tool allows for factory torque to be attained.
